A. Check to see if your pc fulfills the lowest program requirements

In order to run Norton Anti-virus, your computer needs the following system requirements:

Windows XP:
·         300 MHz or processor.
·         300 MB hard disk.
·         256 MB RAM.
·         CD-ROM or DVD drive
·         Mozilla Firefox (32-bit only) and Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher (32-bit only)
·         Microsoft Windows XP (32-bit) Home/Professional/Tablet PC/Media Center (32-bit) with Service Pack 2 or later.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista:
·         1 GHz for Windows 7/Windows Vista
·         256 MB of RAM.

B. Get ready your PC for installation






Remove any other anti-virus or firewall application you may have on your PC:

1.      Click the Windows Start Key and then click Control Panel.
2.      Click on Add/Remove programs. [In Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Uninstall a Program.]
3.      From the list of installed software, click any other antivirus or firewall application that you want to uninstall, and click Uninstall.
4.      Click Remove All to confirm that you want to uninstall the application.
5.      Click Restart Windows Now (Recommended), and then click Finish.

Windows 8 users:
  1. Press the Window key and C simultaneously to go to Charms bar.
  2. Select the Settings charm from the Charms bar.
  3. Click on Control panel.
  4. Click on Programs and select Programs and Features.
  5. Select a Norton Antivirus in the list and click on Uninstall/Change.
C. Install and activate Norton Antivirus
  1. You can install and activate Norton from a CD or a downloaded file:
From CD
a.      Insert the CD into your PC's CD-ROM (if you are installing from a download, double-click the file you downloaded and proceed to step 2).
b.      Place a check in the box next to Norton Security Software, and click Next.
c.       When the installation is complete, Search and open the Norton Security Software folder on your desktop.
d.      Double-click on the Install Norton AntiVirus.exe icon to begin the installation.

From DOWNLOAD

  1. Find the location of the downloaded file NetZero_NAV2012_EN.exe and double-click on it to begin the installation.
  2. If you do not want to connect Norton Community Watch, uncheck this option. By default, this option is checked.
  3. Click OK to begin the installation, or click Install Options to change where Norton installs, and then click Browse to locate the new location.
  4. Click the User License Agreement, read the User License Agreement, and then click OK.
  5. Click Agree and Install.
  6. After finishing the installation, Norton Antivirus launch automatically.
  7. Click the Activate Now button.
  8. Type in your PIN, and then click Activate.
